I have survived several major earthquakes, the eruption of Mount St. Helens, multiple hurricanes and tropical storms including Harvey, Ike, and Irene, a major forest fire, blizzards, Texas ice storms, tornadoes, major flooding events from flash floods to flood emergencies. With every disaster we learn something. It may be about ourselves, our preparation readiness or even how we just want to move somewhere else. This talk and training will help you to learn more from your past and become better prepared for the next disaster.

Making Better Decisions Under Pressure: In Business and Life, How the Little Things Are Not so Little. How well do you perform under pressure and how does pressure impact your decision making process and your emergency management planning. This includes learning how to prepare before the hurricane is on your doorstep. These concepts are excellent for any group or individual, department head or committee and even the CEO of a large corporation.

Are You Ready or Not: How to Develop a Company Disaster Action Plan, Storm Mitigation Program, or Family Disaster Plan. This includes how to make an effective emergency PLAN and how to carry it out. Being Prepared for the Storms of Life: Creating an Emergency Management Cycle for your Life. This includes concepts relating to the idea that being prepared for disasters is not an event, it's a way of life. We can never be too prepared and the moment we slack off in our emergency management process is when we are setting ourselves, our department or entire company up for a more painful outcome or recovery.

Jim is an energetic speaker with a passion to help people take control by becoming prepared for natural disasters as well as life disasters. He holds degrees in meteorology-earth science, journalism and science education, and he draws from his varied background to entertain audiences while teaching them life-changing concepts. He is a 2 time Emmy Award winning broadcaster, college professor, and founder. He holds 2 U.S. Patents dealing with lightning, and has published in national journals including topics about natural hazard mitigation, weather impacts on electricity prices and pipeline protection from lightning.

Jim is currently the chief meteorologist for FOX 26 News in Houston, Texas. He has more than 20 years of experience as a speaker and consultant for storm risk analysis, weather risk management and natural disaster impacts on energy trading. Jim is a keynote speaker at national conferences, corporate evens and conventions. Jim is also an adjunct professor teaching meteorology, geology and environmental science. Additionally, he was a storm chaser for more than 20 years following thunderstorms mainly in Texas and Oklahoma.
