  • Summary
    Jackie Koci Tamayo is an Emergency Services Coordinator in the San Francisco Bay Area. In her current leadership
    role, Jackie oversees the planning, training, response, coordination, and
    development of the Emergency Services Unit for all 10 courthouses in the
    County of Alameda, which includes 86 judges, approximately 800
    employees, numerous jurors, and members of the public. Prior to her Bay
    Area arrival, Jackie worked for over 20 years with the City of Los Angeles
    both for the Department of Recreation and Parks (RAP) and the
    Emergency Management Department (EMD). In her tenure with the City of
    Los Angeles, Jackie was instrumental in creating the Department of
    Recreation and Parks Citywide Training Task Force, coordinating high
    profile events, and while working as a Senior Recreation Director, was one
    of the pioneers in developing the department’s Emergency Management
    Division which led the City’s Mass Care needs. While working for the City’s
    Emergency Management department, Jackie liaised for Operations West
    Bureau, trained and exercised senior staff and EOC responders, and was
    the designated emergency management coordinator for the private/public
    sector. During her time with RAP and EMD, she has responded to several
    high level EOC activations which includes many historical wildfires, the
    COVID-19 pandemic, various civil unrest, POTUS, and other
    planned events.
    She earned her bachelor’s degree in History and Politics from Woodbury
    University and a Master’s in Leadership and Management University of La
    Verne as well as various other certifications in the field of Public Safety and
    Emergency Management. She has served in several WHS So Cal
    committees and serves on the Region 9 Board of Advisors for the
    International Association of Emergency Managers. As a board member for
    the Emergency Network of Los Angeles, she shared her talents and insight
    to strengthen the LA based VOAD resilient and resourceful. She advocates
    for the children of Mustard Seed Communities where she not only served
    as a missionary, but also as a Board Member for the Southern California
    Region. A Los Angeles native, Jackie is passionate about building and
    strengthening relationships that lead to a resilient and developed
    community
